
Nilli Ravi Buffalo is one of the breeds of domestic water buffalo whose average milk yield is 2000 liters per year. The home track of this buffalo is between Sutluj & Ravi rivers of the undivided Punjab Province. This buffalo is found in almost all districts with a major concentration in Amritsar, Gurdaspur & Ferozepur districts of Indian Punjab. Nilli Ravi buffalo have walled eyes and white markings on forehead, face, muzzle, legs as well as tail. Milk of this buffalo contains 6.8% fat, while its lactation yield ranges from 1586 to 1929 Kg. Nilli Ravi Buffalo is easy to identify and have large milking life.
